The poorest five percent of Brazilians are among the poorest people in the world, while the richest five percent of Brazilians are among the richest. The bottom five percent of Americans are still in the 68th percentile for worldwide wealth — that means that they are richer than 68% of the rest of the world’s population (and they are about as rich as the top five percent of Indians).
